The DC motors are characterized by very good concentricity properties. They have a large speed and torque setting range with high performance at the same time. They can be controlled extremely precisely and with converters and achieve control ranges of> 1: 1000 even in reversing operation - even with high starting currents. Safe and quiet cooling and appropriately designed commutation provide the prerequisites for large power reserves, such as those required for dynamic positioning applications, for example. In the power range up to over 90 kW, the motors are designed as a modular system with various degrees of protection. Depending on the application, they can be combined with the most suitable gearboxes, brakes or feedback systems. The design of the motors ensures a long service life with minimal maintenance and thus an efficient drive.

DC MOTORS IN THE POWER RANGE 0.33 TO 27 KW

In harsh industrial environments, the use of DC motors with standard housings in protection class IP54 has proven itself over decades. They can be flexibly installed in various designs and mounting positions. Combining with gears, brakes and feedback systems is easy. The axial external ventilation leads to a large control range at full torque. The motors are equipped with a compensation winding. This ensures a torque / current proportionality, which is given with some motors up to 3 times the overcurrent. This enables dynamic positioning or short-term heavy starts, for example. In the IEC sizes 90 to 160, outputs from 0.33 to 27 kW can be achieved, depending on the armature voltage and speed.

The results are extremely economical drives that can be easily and precisely controlled with single and multi-quadrant converters. The safe and quiet internal ventilation and the appropriately designed commutation provide the basis for large power reserves, for example for dynamic positioning applications. The direct current motors of the IR-O series work uncompensated. The compensation winding of the IR-O series leads to current / torque proportionality even in the overcurrent range and prevents instability when the field is weakened. The DC motors in the power range up to 90 kW are available in various degrees of protection as a modular system. Depending on the application, they can be combined with suitable gearboxes, brakes and feedback systems.
